The Union for Ethical BioTrade (UEBT) standard is one of the sustainable standards that many businesses in the spice industry are interested in and want to implement, especially SMEs.

PHUC THINH EXPORT IMPORT INVESTMENT CORPORATION (PTEXIM) has certified organic for the Cinnamon raw material area with an area of 78 hectares and wishes to apply and certify additional UEBT standards to anticipate new customer needs. PTEXIM, with the advice and support of CRED, has built an internal control system for stakeholders including farmers, Binh An Cooperative and Phuc Long Cinnamon Processing Factory (subcontractor) in the form of combining the existing organic control system and the control system required by UEBT. This new integrated internal control system has helped PTEXIM not only save resources but also help them operate a sustainable Cinnamon production and business model simultaneously according to international organic standards and UEBT standards effectively. This has significantly contributed to PTEXIM’s successful registration and certification of UEBT standards and opened up opportunities to reach new customer groups in the European region based on UEBT’s network of members and partners.
